The Moment It Became Real

While waiting for the board review, I stayed busy—writing, rewriting, gathering permissions for photos, and organizing images.

In June 2024, I visited Scott for his book signing and two PTX concerts. During that trip, I finally met Michael in person. We all attended the signing together—me, Michael, Scott, and Mark—and then grabbed lunch afterward. It was a wonderful day. Michael mentioned that the board would review my proposal the following Wednesday.

That Wednesday, we were at a casino where PTX was set to perform later that night. Killing time at the blackjack table, I suddenly had the urge to check my email. There it was—a message from Michael. The board had approved my book, and he had exciting news to share the next morning.

I was floored. I ran to Scott's dressing room and basically pounded on the door. When he opened it, looking concerned, I blurted out, "They want my book!"

The room exploded with congratulations and hugs. Who would have thought I could become an author in my 60s? The book was finally starting to feel real, and maybe it could be more than just a personal keepsake.

And there was still even more exciting news waiting for me the next morning—something I never imagined...
