Anthony Ramos – GLAAD

April 17 began with a wonderful interview with Anthony Ramos from GLAAD. His genuine kindness set the tone for an open and heartfelt conversation. We discussed my role as Scott’s mom and the heart behind the book. Anthony’s enthusiasm for Scott’s music and our family’s story made it easy to open up about the joys and challenges of raising a musical prodigy.

We reflected on Scott’s journey from a music-loving kid in Texas to a Grammy-winning artist with Pentatonix, along with the personal milestones in between. That included his courage in coming out to me in high school and his beautiful marriage to Mark. I also shared my own journey as a mother, including my early missteps and what I learned about supporting a child after they share their truth.

One memorable moment came when Anthony spoke about GLAAD representatives visiting the Vatican to meet with the Pope and discuss LGBTQ acceptance. He described how the Pope seemed open and compassionate, giving him hope that the Catholic Church might be moving toward greater understanding.

Bob Runkel – The DJ Bob Show

Later that day, I spoke with Bob Runkel from The DJ Bob Show, and the conversation was pure delight. Bob opened with a request for my “elevator pitch,” which was such a fun way to start. From there, we talked about the journey of writing the book and revisited some familiar topics from earlier interviews.

Bob added his own depth to the conversation, asking about the emotions I felt when Scott came out to me. We also reminisced about the Pentacon fan events of 2016 and 2018. I shared what I hope readers will take away from the book—a message of resilience and connection.

One of the most touching moments came when Bob shared his personal experiences living with physical disabilities. He drew parallels to Scott’s story, creating a sense of shared understanding. This wasn’t just an interview; it felt like a genuine exchange between two people who understood each other’s perspectives.
